I have a 96 collector edition and just noticed that the manual shift seal is leaking (not much, but leaking).
Has anyone replaced this seal? and if so, do i have to drop the exhaust to make it easier to get to?
I believe with the correct tool there are no issues. There's a GM KM tool OR I believe that most use the KD version.
KD-T2393 a local buy I'd think I would doubt a loaner. I don't believe the -e requires a different. Every tool company has their version of a similar tool. I've done similar in very tight quarters but actually NOT a later C4.
No, i'm trying to replace the manual shift seal, located on the driver's side of the transmission. There is a shift cable that has to be removed and i don't know if i'll have enough clearance to insert the seal puller without dropping the left side exhaust.
The NAPA store did not have the tool, so i ordered one and get it tomorrow (Thursday).
I'm trying not to have to remove anything else, especially pipes. The lousy seal was $3.79, the tool is $7.00 but it's a $1,000 in headaches.
i'll keep you posted.
Earlier TH350's we just drove the new one in "on top of" the old. There was room for both. The first time I watched one guy had destroyed the seal with a make-shift attempt and a second fellow just said "watch this"!
