Recently I took my factory rims and tires (with tire pressure sensors) off the car and put on some other tires and rims (without sensors) for about a week.
Of course while driving with out the sensors - the IDIOT light for service came on after about 40 miles and remained on.
Now that I have put the factory rims and tires (with sensors) back on the car - when I start the car the IDIOT light is on for a while until I get going (dont know if it shuts off at a certain speed or after so many tenths of a mile)...
What I want to know is how to remedy this back to the correct way it should operate - do I need to go to the dealer to have them do something, or drive a few hundred miles to reset something, or find someone with a neat scan tool - or what?
NOTE: I dont own a scan tool and I am not looking for the 'remove the fuse' fix.
I really dont know but did ya try disconnecting the battrery?Resetting the computer or clearing the codes?
Does it point to just one wheel or a different code?
Did ya bump a sensor? :chevy
I don't know how I missed your year, but I did.........
If you want to clear the codes you will have to ground terminals 6 to 5 on the DLC
3 times within 10 secs.
The receiver/control module will confirm that its memory has been cleared by illuminating both the "low/flat tire & service ltpws" lamps at the same time. Both lamps will remain "on" until the ignition is turned to the "off" position & then bacl to "on".
