Default 1996 ASR Motor

Does the ASR motor have a recoil spring? The FSM calls for disconnecting all the cables, rotating the motor cams and releasing it to its stop? Mine dosen't return to its stop??

What are you trying to accomplish? If it setting your T.V. cable then you only remove the cruise cable and release the tension on the actual cables then insert 1/8" drill bit and torque to 71 inch lbs.
I don't think it has a return spring but the cables return it i.e. throttle spring. Not 100% sure maybe 73.5%

Im trying to run down a "Short To Ground DTC 65, FSM ABS/TCS 5E2-77" and the first step is to disconnect ASR motor connector, remove all cables from adjuster, rotate cable adjuster by hand fully and allow to return to stop. Well mine doesen't return to stop, there's no return spring felt??

I've gone through the process a few times and cant find the problem, I visually checked the wiring harness from front to back a few times and still not sure. I don't want to buy a new EBTCM or ASR motor without first triple checking. Its an ongoing project with parts all over the garage and I get to it when time allows. Thanks for any ideas

Lrod, Curious to what you found. I am having the same issue but it's intermittent.
I did swap rear end gears over the winter 3:55 TO 3:73'S and haven't corrected the speedo gears in the trans yet. Does anyone know if the diff in mph compared to wheel will through off the computer? I did this before from 3:07 to 3:33's and didn't have an issue before I corrected the speedo gears. This is a 92 4l60 OBD-1, thanks.

Nothing yet, I had to put it all together and fix some valve cover leaks. Then my Jeep PCM took a dump and developed a rear main leak so the Vette is on the back burner for now. Im guessing an ASR motor or EBTCM. The FSM calls for a Breakout Box and special probes? Let me know if you make any progress.
