Default Brake pads, Hawk vs EBC ?

I have the 13" hawks now but are needing replaced and didn't last very long in my opinion for just street driving. I will be doing SCCA cone course this year and would like little more stopping then my hawks had. I put some EBC (Green pads) on the wife's Enclave and was impressed but that's my only experience with them. Also see an advertisement on Carbotech in the for sale forum but have never heard of these. Anyone prefer the EBC's over Hawks, etc.???

Thanks!

Here is info on Carbotech performance brakes. http://ctbrakes.com/

I would suggest the 1521 for daily driving.

Carbotech™ Bobcat 1521™ The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non-corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

1.) other than dusting what are the main drawbacks of the AX6 pads for dual use i.e. street/track ? Are they noisy/squeal ?
2.) Little more expensive then a Hawk or EBC what am I getting for the higher cost ?

Thanks!

The drawbacks of the AX6 is NOISE. If you where looking for dual pad I would suggest the XP8 you still will have some noise with the XP8 but the dust is not that bad.

Carbotech builds brake pads out of Ceramic, Kevlar, and Carbon. The benefits of Carbotech pads is they are rotor friendly, non corrosive dust and have modulation built into them so, they don't act like an on/off switch and lock up the tires.Brake modulation is having the ability to consistently increase and decrease the amount of bite from your brake pads at will. Carebotech pads are 100% made is the USA. They also use NRS on the backing plates. Here is a link to explain further what NRS technology is exactly: http://www.nrsbrakes.com

i dont know much about carboteCh. someone claimed one of the pads cracked and broke on them here a while back, but honestly they could have damaged it before/during install. so i take it with a grain of salt.

i did have some experience with ebc greenstuff....i read about it having better jnitial bite or something (vs ebc redstuff), so i went with it.

it was an absolute POS on my c4. the brakes would completely fade out on a single 65 to 5 mph stop. just one stop And you had brake smell, and fade by the end of the stop.

the brake pads also wore extremely quick. they werent squeaky, but id rather have squeaks and the car stop vs the other way around.
ebc makes red and yellowstuff for more peformance oriented driving but my opinion of them as a company was already set.

hawks are what everyone uses here and i wouldnt use any other.

im using hawk hp plus. they do generate dust and they squeak when cold, but thats a small price to pay to stop a 540 rwhp machine !

Not everyone. I tried several types of street pads before finally buying SBS Pro Touring ceramics. As far as I'm concerned, they are the only high-performance street pad I'd put on a Corvette that does street duty.
Quiet. Controllable. Good wear. Very little dust, it's non-corrosive, and it comes off with your finger. They DO NOT FADE!! Worth every dime they cost.

I know this is an old thread however for track days I used my last car exclusively EBC blue brake pads because there are always quiet worked fantastic and lasted a long time. Left a lot of dust that was the only downside
