Default Jetting down without changing timing?

I have kit #5174 from NOS. The jet that comes with it was a #67(.067"). I jetted down to .065, and noticed quite a difference in my performance, for the better. I have some more jets on the way that I want to try. I am going to go smaller yet. My question is, as I am trying these new jet sizes, do I need to reduce the amount of retard in my timing? With my .067 I was 5 degrees retarded. I am still trying to figure out why my car is stronger with the smaller jet, but I seem bent on the fact that the car reacts differently in real driving conditions, as opposed to the dyno.

I am looking at a NOS system with 125 shot have been told that I need to do nothing to anything with this system. There is a LT4 with this set up and 4.10 gears in town and other that catback and oper air box it is stock. He is making 11.87 @124 on street tires. I have been told that if I go higher than 125 that I will need new fuel pressure reg and reprogram computer for timing changes. Did you change timing when you installed your unit?? To much trouble for small hp gain besides have convertible and need to stay above 12 sec. System is on order and will post results in about three weeks. Big Corvette shoot out on 29 September.
