Looking for a new antenna option on my 92. I have rebuilt two ribbons and one motor, now the thing only works for a couple days then stops going up unless I unhook the battery and reboot the damn thing WTF! I would like a low profile or window mount that gets GOOD Reception. Anyone been down this road?
My solution is running a SSD; hardly any radio use, but when I re-ribboned mine(both times over 30+ yrs) I also cleaned it real well and used minimal lube; silicone, i think. Perhaps the gearbox and/or motor is gunked up on the spinny parts.

I hate the look (and typical unreliability) of the factory antenna, so my solution is to hook up satellite radio and have the factory antenna locked in the down position.
I bought a little powered hidden antenna off the the interweb. When I installed a pioneer stereo and speakers in my 95 I ran the antenna up the drivers side A pillar and attached it to the top inside of the windshield. It's in the tint area up top and can't really be seen and it gets amazingly good reception. I think I spent 10$ total on it. I have never cared for a motorized antenna, they've only ever give me grief in whatever car I owned that had one. This one was rebuilt twice and still crapped out. Good luck and have fun

What I did was install a antenna power switch next to the radio.
This prevent s the antenna from being used when your using the tape/disc player.
Saves the wear and tear on the antenna.
Simply splice the switch in the pink wire behind the radio.

You don't still have the name, model or seller info by chance?
I had to replace the mounting tape with good 3m stuff. But otherwise, it's worked out just fine. I looked all over town for a local place to buy one, but nobody had em. Not even Best Buy.
