Default SLP runners any good?

I see that they are siamesed. Are the runners the same diameter as stock runners? are they recommended? What size seal do they use?

This video compares three or four runner brands with real data, not just talk.

SLP "Runners":

*Too much money for the power
*They aren't a "runner"; they're PART of a runner. The intake "base" is the rest of the runner, so changing one portion of a runner tube doesn't make much diff.
*What they're good for is an aftermarket base AND "runners" as a combo.

If you really think they "look cool", and they're really really cheap, then get 'em.

Thanks for the video ghostrider1. There is a set on fleabay the last time I looked they were $305 with 5 days to go. I looked at some graphs and you loose low end power but gain in the upper rpm. So basically you go slower off the line and try and catch up down the track. I bet the stock setup would keep up with the SLP.

For $305, you can buy something that actually makes meaningful power on a stock engine; like a cam. Or headers. Like I said; not worth the money for the power (on a stock engine).

Are headers hard to put on a 85 Vette? Looks tight in the engine bay. Which headers are easily installed? Without cutting and welding or bending?

Headers are not terribly hard. Several bolts are hard to reach. ALL of them need some cutting welding and bending.

headers and duals would be a better buy for the bucks.

Yeah, Couldn't help it. I was only "suspicious" at first, but recent posts in several threads and it became obvious; good 'ol "84L83-85L98" (et al.) is back again.

$315.95 now out of my price range. I think I would rather just polish my stock runners.

Where you gonna get headers for less than $300?

If polishing refers to inside dont waste your time (on stock ones) nothing to do there except blow the seam out and hit air.

SLPs can take an enormous amount of grinding to improve and about impossible to get all the way through and be effective without cutting them up.
