Default Another lowering question...

I'm currently in the middle of lowering my '96 with a VBP kit. The VBP kit does not mention trimming back the aluminum retaining brackets that hold the mono spring in place. However, the Mid-America instructions states to "Measure the thickness of the rubber bumbers on top of the spring. Compare the thickness to that of the new urethane wedges. The difference in thickness will be approximately the amount that is necessary to trim from the ends of the aluminum retainers."
Has anyone installed the retainers without trimming them back?

I the VBP kit the same as the MAD kit? Just little poly wedges? I would think that not triming the aluminum bracket would be bad, but give VBP a call in the AM and ask them. Good Luck, you will love the new look!

If you change the height of the wedges on top of the spring and do not alter the retainers to suit, your spring may not be secured properly and will be loose - not a good situation.

Trimming the retainers certainly makes sense to me. I'm just curious why VBP instructions make no mention of it? Although the VBP and MAD kits are almost identical, the VBP is definitely lacking in detailed instructions.
