Default Looking to jump cooling fan of Corvette C4 1988

I want to make my cooling fan run whenever the engine is running rather than having it turn on at around 220, how would i go about doing so?

I know that the fan has a positive relay but am not quite sure on how to go about pulling this off correctly.

Any suggestions?

Default ok

First of all ur gonna need a roll of wire. I'd go with 16 gauge and a red color since it's a positive wire that ur tapping into. I got all the heat shrink butt connectors for ur job. We need a wiring schematic for the source. We will jump a constant twelve volt circuit when the engine is running and it's on a fused circuit with extra electrical load. Holler at yet boy CORVETTEJEFF tomorrow

Operating temperature is too hot in sw Florida for 220. Cooling fans don't even come on til the late 220's. By then ur playing catch up instead of being ahead of the game and crushing the torque that is readily available

The only way to make ur c4 from 85-89 run cooler is to turn on the floor heater and bake ur legs like chicken.

Must be a early c4 thing. Clean your radiator they are big vacuum cleaners. But designed to run at higher temps then others.

I installed the Mid-America 3 way fan control switch in my '91 - more for peace of mind. Living in Hampton Roads - I can get caught at various bridge openings and find myself sitting in traffic. During those moments - the temp gauge can climb pretty high while sitting in line waiting for the bridge to close. Yep - my radiator is clean - both fans work, clean antifreeze, etc. I like that the 3 way switch allows for one or both fans to be run, and when run, brings temp down fast. Once I am on my way, I just flip the switch off. Again - great for peace of mind.

I put a 210 degree temp switch(instead of 238) for the aux fan to go on earlier, the main fan rarely goes on anymore. It is between 6&8. It will go up very rarely but over 228 doesn't happen anymore. Just a cheap fix

Use the search function or google or just go away. Don't come trolling here and insult the guys who may have been (past tense) willing to help. Texas gets as hot as florida.

why not just install a low temp fan switch sensor? on at 200, off at 185. couple this up with a 180 stat, and you should be good to go...

I don't see where it's been mentioned by the OP that the car has the AUX FAN. That switch is intended for an AUX FAN. Could the OP defeat the ECM control? Yes. Is that what you intended to happen?

good point, however, there's a good chance the OP has the B4P, since approx. 84% of production in 1988 had this option. just assumed from xrav22's post. guess I should have asked....

220 is WAY too hot. If the fan fails, you'll hit 260+, dump all the coolant like a WW2 fighter with a radiator hit and red warning lamps before you can blink, I know, ..been there!

I have a 160 thermostat and one of these..

http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/u...ler-thermostat

Now my fan comes on at 175 and I never see any higher than 185.

You didn't error the OP's car is an '88 and maybe has or maybe does NOT have the AUX option. OP never said or mentioned FANS (plural) only FAN so no one knows except the OP when he comes back he may share.

OP hasn't returned to the thread and posted since his initial .. SO ...

Who was "Bennie42" trying to "run-off"?

OP seemed a bit rude with the comments he directed at the first few replies. So I offered the "why don't you search for it yourself" thing. I may have been to abrupt with the noob.
