I have a problem with my windshield wipers hitting each other. On most cars, windshield wipers move left to right but, on my 88 Corvette the wipers are designed to were they move from the center going outwards...I am not sure if this is the same for all C4's but, I am guessing that it is. The problem occurs when the wipers try to return to the center before moving outwards again. I thought the blades might be old so I replaced them but, that did not help anything. If someone has any ideas on how I can fix this please let me know. Thanks :)
You can fix this problem by installing 96 wiper arms supposedly.
Mine started hitting each other for no reason, they had never done it before. I got to looking and one of my blades had actually shifted and was coming out of the holder. I put it back where it needed to be and made sure it latched into place. No more collisions since.
Re: Windshield wipers hitting each other (Nathan Plemons)
you know I don't uaually drive mine in the rain, but I got caught yesterday and the blades were hiting like yours..sooooo....I'm thinking the wiper transmission gears are worn and having worked on it before........what a pita........I'm just going to cut half an inch off the drivers blade.
Re: Windshield wipers hitting each other (lead foot 85 vet)
The wiper arms were designed poorly and occasionally hit each other. Very common. They were changed in mid 95. Get 96 wiper arms and blade replacements from Jeff Kopp 18carfan and it will fix the problem. 5 minute upgrade that was well worth it. :yesnod:
