There is always a debate whether or not cold air is drawn in from the air cleaner area on are C4's, I for one believe there is cold air based on my data logging. I did some data logging today since it is in the high 80's and low 90's on rural roads. Here are some screen shots. P.S. I run a 185 thermostat.
That isn't terribly hot air...but it's not what I'd call "ambient" or "cold" air either. I just looked; it's 85*F there right now (almost 3pm your time). What temp was it when you ran the test? IAT's were 100*F. I'd bet that's pretty close to "under hood temps" while under way in the same conditions.

The temp was 88 degrees at the time, I am displaying the temps well going through a small town at around 36 miles an hour and engine coolant temp is around 185 keep in mind the MAT is located at the rear and up underneath the plenum and the throttle bodie has the heater hose hooked up, the stock air cleaner is installed and has a K&N with cut lid.

I may do a little more experimenting w/mine. My IAT sensor is in the air tube that connects the air box to the TB. So my readings should be cooler than a TPI's, one would think.

In all fairness it was earlier in the day before noon when I did the data logging and was most likely cooler, I have done data logging were i pull out onto the highway and you can watch the intake temp drop if I can find it I will post it.
Here is more info on my drivetrain info.
