Anyone have trouble with "TOYO" tires? Rear tires on an '87 coupe, currently running TOYO PROXIES-ZR1 P255/50ZR16. Sidewall says max pressure 44psi. Was running 35psi. With tires on or off the car they appear that they a down or sunk-in in the middle. Problem is they flat wore out the middle and the outsides look new. Car mainly runs on the highway, and am a not a racer but a 50 year old around town putter, Tires have around 12000 miles on them. Front tires look new were put on at the same time. Anyone have experience and suggestion for a better tire.
Allthough the max pressure is 44 that is not allways the recomended pressure. Sounds like the tires were over inflated causing the center of the tire to bulge out and have the most contact with the road and then wearing out. Many posts elsewhere on the forum on tips to determine correct pressure such as marking a line accross the tire with chalk, then driving a short way and then checking for uneven contact.
Wear In Center: OVER INFLATION When a tire is over inflated, the center of the tread bears most of the load and wears out faster than the outside edges. Uneven wear reduces the useful life of a tire. Check your tires regularly for proper inflation. Abnormal tire wear may also be due to misalignment or mechanical problems.
thanks all for the overinflation advise. But as I stated in original post from the time the tires were installed. The center of the tire was inverted even while looking at the tire on the car. I was wondering if anyone had used these tires before, and that they might be a weak band type tire that might be soft in the middle.
