Default fit & function.......long tube header questions.

What are you guys using? I'm going to get long tube headers, and I'm curious to know how your's were to install, how do they fit, and what ones did you use(tube/collector size and brand). Are you happy with their performance with your mods? Are they ceramic coated or painted? What exhuast are you running with them(size/cats?/muffs/true duals)? I have no emmission laws to worry about, so what would you suggest. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest some Hookers, TPiS, or Lingenfelter headers. Get them ceramic coated, lately we've seen good things about the Hookers and their coating seems to stay on, whereas TPiS' cracks. (not sure about LPE)

Size depends on the power numbers youre thinking of making, for over 400, youll need a 1 3/4" collector. For less than that, 1 5/8" is fine.

Hooker 2151's They are ceramic coated from whoever the guys at Speed Demon Motorsports gets to do their coating. It's the ONLY header finish I have ever seen that hasn't rusted, discolored or completley flaked off within 6 months. In fact it's approaching a year now and my headers look exactly like they did when I first installed them.

Fit and finish is excellent, they have 3 inch bolt up collectors. Call me crazy but I had enough of that slip fit :bs on my original exhaust system. You have to do some mods to the cat back, but well worth every penny.

I've got LPE long tubes, and love them. They are tight to install, but all probably are, and fit and look great in place. They are ceramic coated, and I have 10,000 miles on them with a hot running stroker with not a sign of problem with the coating. However, I very rarely drive in wet conditions, and never use water under the hood.

Good Luck!

I run the Hooker SuperComps; you just can't beat them for performance, finish, and price. I just posted info / pics of my dual exhaust system you can look at for ideas; just delete the cats since you have no emissions.
