92 Dirty Key?
If so, it could be a dirty or worn key, it could also mean the area the key contacts in the cylinder is dirty. Disconnect the battery to prevent possible shorting and clean the area in the cylinder the key contacts with alcohol or suitable cleaner.
You can test that our with nothing more than an ohm meter. Disconnect the connector at the bottom of the column, the connector has about 12" of lead from the column and IIRC one of the 2 wires is orange. Disconnect the connector and probe the connector with and without the key in the ignition, you should see an ohm reading when the key is in. There are various VATs pigtails that plug-and-play into the end of the connector on the wire that goes under the dash and replaces reading the resistor on the key and eliminates the need for a resistor on the key. If you do that, insure you get the one with the correct ohm value based on your key's resistor.
If it's something else, please explain further.
