I have a 1987 Corvette. i had transmission issues, took the tranny out, had it rebuilt and put it back in. Started the car and drive off. No issues.
Now the starter will not start. I can roll start the car, drives fine, but the starter does not work. I pulled the starter - Tests OK
The thing has 2 electrical terminals (big and little). The big terminal is 12V DC and it is hot.
Soo, I think it is the power to the solenoid. I have not tested it, but:
- Is there a fuse or other area I should check??
Any other ideas? Worked yesterday morning, does not work in the afternoon. I looked for burt wires - non-visible, No obvious shorts. VATS is gone years ago.
What cha think??

Reason: spelling
I think you should connect a test light to the small terminal and hit the key .... if it lights up and the starter wont crank then you need a new starter.
I have power, on and off, to the neutral safety switch plug. I can jump past the switch and I get lots of current (Smoking') . It seems the starter wire is dead short between the neutral safety switch and the starter. I guess, it may be the wire is pinched between the bell housing and the block, or melted on the exhaust or stripped and touching a metal part?. What is the route in the engine bay and goes anybody know the color of the wire?
At the moment i am thinking of replacing a wire from the Neutral Safety Switch to the starter, but do not know exactly where the Neutral Safety Switch hot wire comes out of the firewall.
