Default sos help on early c4 heatercore.

has anybody run into this situation, you cannot get the heater core shroud back on. Everything was going great until I tried to put the heater shroud cover back on. The front half of the black plastic enclosure that contains the heater core itself.

Something is blocking it from lining up which is stopping me from doing up the top screws, but more importantly, is stopping me from being able to do up the diagonal tube brace.

The only thing I can think of is that the upper tube of the heater core it's self is a tiny bit higher then the OEM one and it is pressing against the top of the shroud not allowing it to align itself with the other half of the shroud.

I am at the point now where I will pull out all of the plastic again, and see if I can bend the tubes on the heater core itself downwards.

has anybody experienced this?

Best to take it to a shop with the old one and let them bend match it. And test.

Are you using an aftermarket heater core ?? If yes then I wouldn't be one bit surprised if you have to bend it slightly ... I would go as far as saying it's normal to have to adjust it's fitment by bending it slightly.

Yep I went through this with a Spectra heater core. Took me longer than the job took to figure out the problem. You have to bend the pipes on the new core to fit properly. The pipe is hitting the shroud. Mine is an 85.

I don't understand it either. Same thing with the clutch slave cylinder. They made that one slightly different so you have to buy a upgraded hose as well for 2 times as much. And nobody makes the original style.
