LT1/4 Timing chain upgrade questions
I have breifly tried to find a good aftermarket timing chian, and the prices seem a bit high for a new cloyes..I been quoted from $600- $700 and that sounds absurd to me. Heck you can buy a JESEL for that kind of money...Has anyone found a better price for the cloyes timing kit, what is the part # for the GM extreme duty timing chain? Anybody found a diffrent company making them? if so how much? Any help would be appreciated

If you install an electric water pump you can pick up a very nice cloyes double roller chain for $80. Water pump costs $200. So for $280 you can have a superior chain and water pump.
Or you can pay just about that much money for the GM Extreme Duty LT4 chain, or the normal LT1 chain are about your only options.

Engine works makes a GREAT double roller set. But like mentioned before, you need to go with an electric water pump. The Engine works set is a billet gear, and is around $150.00 if I am remembering correctly (but dont quote me on that.. I ordered so many parts in the last few months, that I may very well be mixing the price up). That, with the electric pump will give you a VERY strong timing set, along with a nice HP boost from the water pump for $350-$450. I got mine from Chris at Next Gen Motorsports (lcvette on the forum). Drop him a line. He's a GREAT guy, and really knows his stuff.
