Brake Upgrades
I'm going to upgrade the front brakes on my 93 this week, I'm planning on doing the VB&P c5 upgrade unless swayed to some thing else. I'm really not looking for a big change just something a little mor durable/better and trying to keep it under a grand. So what haev you all done? I also need to keep my original wheels.

Re: Brake Upgrades (bogus)
Andy, I got the basic concept down, I just had a problem with one of the caliper retaining pins wearing grooves from hard brasking and the caliper falling out while driving. Wasn't real dangerous but I couldn't imagine running around Pocono again and this happening. The C5 caliper is retained better and the cost for a complete upgrade is only 850. For pads and rotors it would be about 400 so that's not a bad deal. I'm still going to call Baer though :D
The C-5 upgrade is the hot lick for anything but all out track use.
I wanted some changes to the package deal so I got every thing separately from Jeff Kopp, and I couldn't be happier. Total cost was $975.
C5 but talk to 18carfan. He hooked me up with the same stuff as VBP but for $200 less and with Z06 Red calipers instead of std C5 gray ones. (color is the only difference between the two calipers)
About the only other thing you can do is go with a GS/J55 upgrade. Not even close to a C5 but it will be better than the 12" standard if that's what you have. The other products out there won't fit. BTW, the baer PBR is the GS with different paint and a higher price tag. You could do the rims also and get GS rims like I did. Improved my handling at the same time and the rims are lighter than sawblades.

Re: Brake Upgrades (92TripleBlack)
I always wanted to do the AMold wheels but this one being a covertible I don't want to go crazy with all the upgrades seeing I can't take it on the track regularly. I'll wait till I get a 6spd coupe :D
You sure? Look at my sig. They look real purdy. Besides, you can always swap them to a coupe later if you want. I got my set from AFS for $750 off ebay. Yes they are blems but the blems were so small I couldn't see them. And I had a scratch within a week. Besides, what C4 doesn't have a scratch that's driven. That would have been a $850 scratch if I had bought them new instead of blems. With the lighter weight, extra air to the brakes, better handling from the larger rears, and ability to mount the brakes, I figured go for it. I'll have a roll bar soon enough and start tracking it. Regardless, if you went with the spacers, its not tragic. It just puts the wheels out about 1/2" from where they are. With a 93 your fronts are 8.5. Stock fronts on '92 and Z07 were 9.5" wide so it would look like a '92 with the spacers. Luck

Re: Brake Upgrades (92TripleBlack)
750 thats not bad , do you have a link? Are they 17" I'm going to need a new set of tires also  maybe I could still get this setup under 1500 or so witgh the wheels :D
Just search on ebay in the wheels section with the keyword AFS. They have all types of sets posted each week. Took me two weeks to win these. Just keep trying and it will payoff. I have the GS rims with GS offsets, chrome 17x9.5 front and 17x11 rear. They will also offer to add rubber if you want when you win. :yesnod:
I got mine for $1648 including shipping, that was for the 2-17 x 11 and 2-17 x 9.5 and 4 Duncrap tires. mounted and balanced.
You could(and should) go with the silver painted ones, they are the cheapest and will match well with your color.
My black wheels weigh more than my sawblades though.
My rear 9.5 sawblade with a 285 tire weighed 47 lbs and my 9.5 front GS wheel with a 275 tire weighs 51 lbs. The rear 17 x 11 with a 315 tire weighs 52 lbs.
Silver is a good choice. I was going to get polished but went chrome because it was cheap. I don't and shouldn't drive with road salt anywhere now. As for weight, the 9.5 rims should be lighter but the tires can make them heavier. My pilots were heavier than the Good Year GSCs. They also were wider even though they were supposed to be the same size. I chaulk it up to tread design and rubber compound. The 5 spoke rim in 9.5 should weigh 26 lbs. I don't have the sawblade weight but I though for sure it was a pound or two more.

Re: Brake Upgrades (Mr Mojo)
Well, I thought about it and I'm just going to upgrade to the GS/CE and not do the wheels. I'm still working on getting the a/c system starightend out and I just had the wheels redone last spring.
