96 vette LT1/auto. My vette is used for daily driving and drag racing.
Needed some new tires so I was shopping around and found these.
I got them from tirerack.com the mfg is SUMITOMO and the style is
HTRZ11. The back tires only come as large as 275 for a 17 inch rim instead of a 285 width but they hook just fine and for 95 bucks per tire they work just fine.
One note these are not for use in ice or snow.

Reason: misspelled word
The good & cheap reference is somewhat true. Tires do not. Need to be expensive to be "good"
Like eagle F1 @ $330+ VS nitto 555 std /r & G2's @ $170 - 189

I still think bfg's are a good tire for the price. They are not that expensive and seem to be a good all around tire for vette's. If I only tracked my car I would probably use something else but for the average owner they seem to be a great choice. Also they last a long time.
I've been running the Nitto 555's for a couple of years, and for the price (about $175.00 each), I don't have any complaints. I have 275/40/17's on the front and 315/35/17's on the rear. They also offer a 555 DOT approved semi-slick that has the same tread pattern, so they match if you choose to put them on the rear for better traction. I think they have 6/32nds of tread depth as opposed to 11/32nds for the regular 555's. The treadwear for the drag tires is 100 as opposed to 300 for the regular 555's, and I've read where they hook up great.
I had Sumotomo's and I will agree with cheap. If you drive like you're driving a mini-van they are fine. If you drive like you're driving a Corvette not so good. But they do make burnouts and donuts easy. Without even trying sometimes.
I've read up on a lot of tires that fit our 17-inch wheels. Yes the Conti DW and the Nitto NT555 are the two relatively inexpensive tires that fit our cars, that are considered to be good tires. Of course cheaper tires are out there, but when the per-tire cost goes below about $130, the quality goes downhill fast. Not worth it in my opinion.
I'm due for new rubber in the fall and am torn between the Contis and the Nittos. Their ratings are pretty equal across the board. I prefer the tread pattern of the Nittos, but I like even more that the Contis are made in USA (I think).
I'll put one comment out there on the Nittos that I haven't seen before. My wife has those on her 07 Mustang GT, she has about 30,000 miles on them. They're wearing well and still have good tread left but I was driving her car this past weekend and realized those things have gotten quite noisy. These are the originall 555's, not the newer G2 version they recently came out with so maybe those are better in this regard.
