opti spark test
Is there more than one way to test an opti spark that might be not up to operating at its full potential. 96 vette vented. i have read that using an oscilloscope is the way to go, is this something that needs special software and a computer or a scanner?

Just need the O scope. How fancy is dependent on how much and what you will use it on. A "single trace" will only do one circuit at a time. I would want at least a dual trace so 2 circuits could be monitored at same time. examples would be monitoring tps and map or maf related to stumble on acceleration. Both opti references related to misfires or hard start. There are DIY kits and computer software where a PC, laptop, or tablet can be used. If you could used a device with storage capability and could save scope pattern that would be a plus. Pattern could be shared if you were uncertain of results.
