I am really interested in Torque and not that much horsepower, because I love the off the line acceration that torque gives. Also, it helps a LOT on the street when racing. Whats mod's should I do to gain lots of torque? I was thinking long tubes... ( i want low rpm torque, i dont wanna lose it down low for upper rpms taht much )
The best torque booster is cubic inches - nitrous - supercharger any of the three will boost torque. Everyone talks about how much horsepower they have with nos like a 100 shot but what is over looked or not understood is a 100hp shot of nos will increase torque by 200lbs. If you really want torque do like I did and go for all three choices. :D

Vader do you know where I can order a Dana 44 Rear end ( with all the other parts that u need with it ) I have a A4 96 LT1 with 2.59's... I really need these gears in by next Friday, I need information from someone who knows exactly where to order one, etc. ZIP sells a Dana 44 with 3.73's but I dont know if they have the other "stuff" forgot what it is, that comes with it.
I found a link for a company that sells the D44 w/ gears for a very reasonable price. I have the link at work and I will post it tomorrow. Email me if I forget!

I bought the complete rear out of a '94 six speed, Dana44 with the stock 3.45 gears, the driveshaft and rear cover and driveline support. Goes for about $1400.

I did the same thing as Mr Mojo, except I didn't get mine from the same source. I got mine from a yard out of California since the shipping would be less. The price was less too. But that is a good way to do it. Get the rear end, bat wing (cover), torque tube (C-beam) and drive shaft. You will have to change the yoke from the auto and add it to the shaft. That'll necessitate new u-joints. Seal the rear cover with "The Right Stuff" available at NAPA for $15 a can. Also, you will have to reprogram using a Power Programmer or some other interface to recalibrate for the new gears (speedo thing). Have fun.... I did mine in the garage on jack stands in two leasure days.

Think about what you are saying. You are wanting to add torque which would also cause you to hook up less. :) Gears just apply the power you already have to the rear different.
vader i dont want to step on your toes but long tube runners will hurt low end torque i dont think so in fact quite the oposite in fact most people believe you need back pressure wrong maybe on that 1991 chevy cavalier but not on any corvette or high performance car for that matter
just take the corky challenge unbolt your exhaust right after the headers long or shortys doesnt matter you will pick up anywhere from 1-8 tenths depending how good or bad your exhaust is now if you slow down your car is wat to lean allready believe me from years and years of drag and bracket racing i dare you to take the corky challenge :D
I wonder why is it then that some people (not all) have gotten on here and complained that they lost a little jumpyness off the line when they switch over to longtube headers?
They still got better ETs, yes, as i would expect.
Gears do not "give" torque. They simple multiply the torque you have differently. Go ride a 10-speed bicycle. Switch from 3rd gear to 1st gear. Gets easier even though it is still only you on the bike right? Same principle. 3rd gear is like having a 2.59 gear and 1st is like a set of 3.73s. It takes less work to turn a 3.73 gear than a 2.59 gear, so the engine can wind it out easier.
vader like i said if they lost some down low it was probally because the long tubes were scavenging the cylinder better and causing a lean out at that rpm area
