Default Removing Ball Pivot Locking Screw?

In order to dial indicate my bellhousing, I need to remove the clutch fork. The first step in the FSM to do this is to remove the "ball pivot locking screw." As I understand it, this is basically just a threaded disc that covers the 12mm internal hex on the base of the ball pivot. Everything I read online says to remove the locking screw with a regular ol' hex key. However, mine is some special type of fastener. A 6mm hex key fits, but will not turn without stripping the fastener. It looks something like a cross between internal hex and pentalobe and has a small (3/32") internal hex fitting inside of it, as seen in the picture below. How did you guys get this out?

My car is a '90 base model ZF6 coupe, and according to the PO had some work done to the clutch shortly before I bought it.

I'm going strictly from memory here, which is always a chancy proposition in my case. But, If I recall correctly, that thing is reverse-threaded.

Live well,

Thanks, I figured it out.

Turns out it was just a weird-looking 6mm hex, and my dad's hex keys weren't great quality.

The ball pivot itself had to be turned clockwise to be taken out because the hex fitting was on the bottom. So not technically reverse threaded, but yeah, it had to be turned the opposite direction.

Your locking screw is missing...so are most other's that have ever had a clutch job done; when you put the ball fork stud back in be sure to apply some locktite.

To clarify, the 6mm hex was on a different piece from the ball pivot, which I believe is the locking screw. Here's a picture.

I thought it would be interesting to image the "bolt" after it was mentioned in Post #4 as to be "missing". Thanks for posting. It's often misunderstood just how the stud/lock etc is attached/threaded to the bell-housing.
