What are all the tubes on the exhaust manifolds on my 84, if I install headers on my 84 ( looking at a set of Hedmans, which doesn't have all the those tubes) can all that stuff be eliminated and if so what do I have to do?
those tubes are emission control parts. You may or may not get away with doing away with them, depends what state you live in. Those headers can be bought with the emission hook ups or ones with out them. They go to the air pump mounted on the front passenger side of the engine.

What is the Hedman part number you are looking at for your '84? Headers with AIR fittings should easily connect to the existing hoses.
IF you don't need to pass an emissions test, the AIR system can be removed without any codes showing up. The AIR pump can be removed but you will need a replacement pulley and mount. These may be harder to find for an '84 but they should be out there. You will probably need a smaller serp belt.
Are you going to use a dual exhaust setup?
