Door Chime operating even when key is removed
The chimer goes off whenever you open one of the doors. Key is removed and in my hand. Chimes when either the passenger or drivers door is opened. Of course chimes louder when the key is in the ignition but does it even if key is removed.
I have the PKE system turned on and it works properly.
As soon as you close the door, the chime stops.
Parking brake has no effect.
New problem started up after a heavy rain yesterday.
I don't have any leaks that I can find or am aware of.
When you open the door, the inside lights come on as they should.
Any ideas? Or where is the chimer to disconnect?
Thanks,

I'd first likely check the CCM for faults and clear them. Perhaps toggling through CCM functions you'll be able to see something that's maybe out of the ordinary. The door ajar is controlled by the CCM so I'd say the CCM diagnostics the "FIRST".
Do you have a FSM for your car?
As soon as I close the door, the chiming stops.
It has never done this before with the key removed.
And as soon as I walk away with the fob and key, the door locks and the horn beeps so I know the PKE and stuff is working.
Is the security chime supposed to sound whenever the door is open, even if the key is removed?
Seat belt warning.
Leaving the turn signal switch engaged for over a mile.
Headlight switch on and ignition key is removed from the key cylinder.
Ignition Off and Key still in key cylinder. (Chimes when you open the door).
Appears the key in ignition cylinder switch is flakey.
Insert the ignition key into the cylinder and move it in and out a few times.
The factory alarm only pulses the horn.

At one point today it was still chiming after I cranked the car and was driving away.
Seat belt on of course.
No idea.
Where is it located?
If it keeps being an issue I may just unplug the chime module.
I had to remove the LCD fuse which powers the interior lights, LCD speedo display, and the chimer.
Took the front console cover off and the DIC module out. Could see the chime behind there but no way to get to it without removing the dash pad.
Of course the whole time I was doing this it was chiming at a single chime rate (key in is different chime) (lights on is different chime).
I bumped it with a long screwdriver and it immediately stopped chiming.
Played with it a few minutes and then put everything back together as it was getting dark.
For now, it is working properly.
If problem comes back, I will have to remove dash pad to get to it. I am convinced the issue is in the chimer itself. Either a corroded connection or a cold solder joint.
