Default Rear Struts

was under the rear of the car last nite looking around and noticed that...and Im not sure what they are called...either a lower control arm or Ive seem them called struts...anyhow they run from the hub to the differential...bout 12-18 inches long.....my question is the one on the drivers side has a slight bend forward where it bolts to the diff...the end that attaches to the hub has a slight bend rearward...just before the bolt hole....the one on the passenger side is almost straight....no noticable bend at either end.....it would seem to me like they should both be the same....I wonder if this car has been wrecked or somehow the drivers side got bent....can anyone tell me should these two struts look the same or is this the way they are supposed to look........thanks......

Boy Larry, I can't say for sure, but when I had the carrier off this past winter, I recall those two lower pieces to be symmetrical. Additionally, when reinstalling it, it was a very tight fit, so I don't think you'd be able to install them backwards.

I hope that helps a little.

It's funny you bring up this topic, on my 94 my control arms are both bend slighly simulatiing an awkward bow. My car does pull to the right pretty good, but I don't belive the struts are the cause of the pull. I had a bad realignment done. Though I'm concern about my rear lower control arms because I had put on a set of 11 inch ZR1 rims and noticed that one side was sticking out farther and the spacing between the tire surface and the sides of the wheel well where off center quite a bit. I talk to my local vette tech and he said those lower control arms have been know to bend or bow beacuse the car was toed incorrectly at one point in its life. I did a bunch of messarements and have confirmed my rear end suspension is in th car slighlty slainted from drivers front to passenger rear about an inch and 7/16. As soon as I finish my year long 383 stroker conversion ( hopefully next week)( one small oil leak) I will be taking the car to my local vette mechanic to see what the story is. If I were you see if your rear tire spacings look different on both sides. I first noticed mine like I said when I threw the ZR1 Rims and tires on the car.
