So you would just be driving and randomly it would feel like someone cut the ignition off? How long does it cut out for? Half a second? I have something like that going on with my 85 but I always thought it was something to do with the cam and the computer.

That is exactly how it acted, sometimes I would drive 20 miles, once I drove 75 miles before it acted up but this was at the onset of the problem. I have the upgraded computer in my '85 but I had a similar issue right after I got the car. Any time it got above 45 degrees outside I could stop at a stop sign and it would die. I would have to wait until it cooled a bit before it would restart. That time it was ,my ecm getting hot internally. That is why I changed my ecm for this problem but it was not the problem obviously. Since I had changed the ignition module to no avail the problem had to be in the stator. Due to the sorry condition of the old dist. I simply threw it as far as I could,,, wellll, at least across the garage. The faulty dist. was a Delco reman with less than 5 or 6 thousand miles on it.

Hmm... so you think it could have been the tone ring or pick up coil that was faulty then? I don't really want to spend a few hundred bucks if I don't have too. But one thing I did notice was on my AFR gauge when it does it the AFR goes to like 12.8 and then returns to 14.7.

The stator itself is the only thing I did not change. If my old dist. had not been in such bad shape I would certainly have changed the stator.
