Started replacement
I got a good deal on a NIB not NOS ACDELCO unit from rock auto.
Questions is how big a job is this. Based on the location of the starter, I figure once I get it on a lift it should be straight forward.
Any Gotchas ? I know about the shims, so I will be careful when removing old unit, should I recuse the old shims if any ?
Any way to confirm good alignment other than starting and listening for a grinding sound ??

What were you sold brand/part # by RA? I might have preferred maybe just a "refresh" of the original if it was the original. How much?
GRINDING SOUND isn't the way that starter drive "mesh" is generally evaluated.
There's actually depth checks for "mesh". GOOGLE might be a good start
I believe I've seen you mention having an FSM .. if you do look in 6D-2 or vicinity.

A lot cheaper than Amazon and some other places. Thought about going to some fancy name Starter but decided for my application right now it would just be wasted money.
WVZR-1, yeah listening for the grinding would not be good, that was sarcasm.
Will google mesh and see what I can find other than BDSM sites (Sarcasm again !)
Will get the FSM out from under the short leg of the couch and find someone to read it to me.
Thanks as always for the response.
