Locked My Keys In
Was putting a new door lock switch in my 87 convertible & locked my keys in. Is there anyway to open the door without calling a locksmith ?

How handy are you with a Slim Jim and do you have one?

I suggest that unless you want to risk damage, get a locksmith. TV shows you can do it with a paperclip but that isn't reality. You should really consider getting electric locks so you have a key fob around as an extra means of unlocking that you keep somewhere in case the cylinder gets rusted or someone puts glue in it. Ask me how I know.

Bend a coat hanger to right angles, insert between the window and weather strip and hit the power door lock. Shouldn't take more than a couple minutes. Cars without window frames are very easy to get into.

I saw a Locksmith once, come to the assistance of someone who had left their car keys, locked inside their car.He picked up an house brick and threw it at the side window of the car. After breaking the glass he casually walked away.Silence descended very quick that day. Everyone was chatting and offering advice, then suddenly everyone was totally dumbfounded, as to what had just happened. Never leave your keys inside a car, or anywhere else for that matter. The locksmith may still be around to assist.

Wire coat hanger down the window to the lock mechanism or one of those metal straps that are used in filing cabinets to bridge the files..
I have a set of keys secreted on my '87 and fabricated a simple and non obvious way to get in to it.

Locked out of my '90 roadster. Called AAA. Fella came with a 3 foot green plastic rod about as round as a lead pencil....maybe a bit larger. I believe they are used to stake flowers and such. A right angle was bent to the last couple of inches. He slipped it between the back edge of the side glass and the weatherstrip and rotated the hook to face the door. Hit the switch and donein under 2 minutes. The plastic rod is slippery ond did't chew up the rubber.

I locked my keys in the car at party once....in desperation, I got my fingers between the top of the glass and the roof weather stripping (not too hard to do). I was then able to pull outward on the the glass far enough to reach my other arm down into the car and hit the unlock button. Sounds kooky, but it worked, nothing broke.

this post is just shy of a Month. in the event you. still. need to retrieve your. keys?
the C4 is way to easy. to open. SHHHH< find 2 similar plastic wedge blocks. carefully pry the window on the corner. then alternate the window gap. Until you have about 2" of clearance.
now you can use a thin metal rod. to push the door lock switch. grab your keys. this should have a basic vats system. If you have the keyless Fob. lock & unlock. OR place the key in the ignition.
in the event you only have manual locks. Simply push the door lock slide. with the steel rod.

To open this one, I'd get a long piece of #9 wire, make a hook on one end and slip it between the back of the door window and seal and slide it across and hook the opposite side door handle. I haven't tried it but I assume pulling the handle will open the door even if the lock is set.
