So.... I have determined that I need to remove and replace the left side motor mount. The FSM makes it sound simple. Does not mention removing exhaust. Just a support the engine and unbolt them type of thing. When I look under the car, it looks like getting to the three bolts attaching the mount to the engine is difficult to do. Looks like long extensions and universal joint socket set stuff, maybe a custom made wrench too. Anyone have some secrets to share on this?
Small Hands? Sorry, couldn't resist. I'd like to know too in case it ever comes up.
Haha. Good one! A little humor always helps. The more I look at it it looks like the exhaust manifold needs to come out to provide room but maybe somebody that has done this will chime in and help us both.

I doubt this job would be any different on an L98 than it was on my L83, if stock exhaust manifolds are on the car. Yes, it's a very tight spot to work, but it CAN be done without removing the manifolds. Carefully jack up the engine to take the stress off the motor mount.
Speaking of humor, I had to laugh when I saw the torque specs shown in my '84 FSM. It shows the torque of the tru-bolt different than the torque for the nut on that same bolt!! Good trick!! (FYI, you can't get a torque wrench in there anyway!)

That is where the calibrated forearm comes into play...
