Default EPROMS with correct factory code?

Does anyone sell EPROMS with the original factory code for the various years and configurations? I mean copies, not $200 OEM ones on eBay. Good business if no one is doing it.

Are you talking about just selling an EPROM chip with factory code on it? Or reproduction EPROM chip with the whole board with limp home chip on it?

Just the EPROM, not the memcal.

People can load the .bin into the right blank EPROM chip. Not too hard getting a blank chip and hardware to load .bin files. I don't know what are all the different C4 .bins, but there are a lot floating out there you can download. With hardware, you can also pull the .bin off the stock chip assuming it's not damaged.

I've burned my own chips doing tuning mods.

Why is it you are wanting to replace your EPROM? Has it gone bad, or was the sticker removed and exposed to UV light and erased it.

I have a 80s performance chip in mine and I'd like to try the stock one. I know I buy all the hardware and I know how to do it, but I don't want to for one chip. That's my point, there seems to be a business opportunity here and one that will only grow as OEM chips get scarcer. They are already going for $175 on eBay.

What is the chip code that goes to your car? Also what is the year and transmission?

Those chips, the Hyperjunk, Superchips, ADS, etc probably didn't do more than turn the fans on earlier. I wouldn't worry about it. If you must, get someone to burn a stock file and be happy

Did you find an answer for this? I'm looking to get the updated .bin for my 85.

Your situation with an '85 is that it's a "1 year only" ECM and there was very little development for these. An update would have been done only by GM and only if there were an actual set of circumstances that required it.

Do you know what is actually in your car presently? It very well is likely all there is OR that information could be used to see if there was actually anything ever offered by GM that would have been considered "updated". "UPDATED" is very different from "MODIFIED"!!

Many changed to the later '86+ ECM for refinement!

A GOOGLE SEARCH FOR "1226870 ecm development" might get you some interesting reads.

I'm sure there are many members here that can burn you a chip as a favor. I'm not in the business of so doing for stock tunes but mainly for custom tunes particuarly with the slot style MAF I sell for the '86 thru '89 Vettes.

But say you want a STOCK tune - then I'd quote you $10 for the chip and $10 for the burn and $10 for the USPS Priority mail shipment. If you want some common edits like fan turn ON points etc. we can negotiate your cost. Just e-mail me: greg@blowerworks.net
