Default no start question

hey everyone

new issue since working on the car (1985) replaced leaking fuel hose and fuel filter and -at the moment - one valve cover gasket - had to remove passenger side #4 and #8 wires from distributor, a few connectors in front, the entire ac compressor and bracket and front air flow sensor - (thought it would be good to mention in case anything means something) also disconnected negative battery terminal before all of this and released fuel pressure.

ok that being out there - battery died while all of this was going on - strange but not that strange since I do not know all of the history of the vehicle. I got the battery to 11v and thought I would try to start to see if it would at least turn over - I did expect some rough first starts after being that I drained gas from the lines but. . .

It would not - make a clicking whirring sound but no crank/turn over

do we need full charge for a start is there something else I am missing? I did not think I did enough to break the car already -

any thoughts or opinions ?

thanks

Sean

The C4 needs to see a "FULL CHARGE" to accomplish "CRANK" under nearly all circumstances. Get a full confirmed charge, make a last check of connections and try again.

got it to start - it was not reaching full charge even on the charger - put it on start car setting and it fired up - now the new valve cover gasket is smoking or it's not tight enough?

anyhow

thanks very much - one problem down 2 to go and I should be driving soon
