Small inverted torque socket maybe a E4. Do not forget the locktight.

O'reilly's also carry the deep well E4 Torx.

Everyone thanks for discussing this. I will be converting my '96 to C5 coil packs soon and this will be helpful.

That means I think it is a E4 but not 100 percent sure and do not want the butt surfers piling on.

that is pretty funny and an apt description

I did appreciate the knowledge, I would have never thought about that when I got into doing the conversion. mine probably needs better wires, as they are 20 yrs old, even though they only have 12,000 miles. I am not going to tear the front of the engine apart to do a tune up.

Yes you are on my 94 just had to loosen the power steering pump and slide it forward to get the spark wires in the hell hole. Start soaking the three bolts on the pully now. Use a brass drift from the bottom. Tap and turn the pully will fall off 20 minutes after your arm does. Do not hit the outside of it.

I understand that if I leave it stock I will have to do that.

So....

I am going to convert it over to the Bailey LTCC system. So once I get it all done once, it will be done. I know the 1996's have improved Optisparks, but if I leave it, I will end up putting an MSD box on it and then I will have to go tearing the engine apart for tune ups.

SO....

It is best just to turn it into just being the optical reader and get the voltage out of it.

Do you need to take the cap off to do this?

Probably not, but it would be good to see what is inside it. After all the car has mostly sat for the last 20 years. As part of the going over I am doing to the car, I should check the ventilation system, etc, plus, I am going to be putting a LT4 Hot Cam and new rockers into the engine around the same time.
