Default TPiS Big Mouth Intake

I know someone looking to sell their TPiS Big Mouth Intake to me $325.00. Brand new from TPiS they're almost $500.00 Is this a good deal? He's a forum member too.

Also, can I still use the stock plenum and runners with this? Or will it serve me better to get a ported plenum and larger runners? If I don't need to get the new plenum and runners, I won't bother. All in all, he wants $500 for everything. I'm comfy paying the $325.00 for the intake if you think it's worth the price. I don't know how "used" it is. Sounds like he's the second owner. And, as told to me before, how used can it be? It sits there and passes air through it. Also, the runners he has are painted with a powder coated black and the plenum is polished. I'm not too crazy about that combination.

THe BMIntake by itself won't do much.. BUT if you get ported plenum/runners and the intake, That should give you a nice little performance gain..

Mr. Nuke is correct and I have the data to back it up.
With just the Accel intake, I gained nothing. Then I added a ported plenum and large runners and picked up 2 tenths.

The aftermarket TPI is good for a small gain (2 tenths), but is it worth the cost ? (about $800) , that's up to you.

Well, can't do it financially right now. I have other things I need to spend the $$$ on first (darn bilstein shocks). So, keep an eye open for these. I just sent him an email saying I must pass.

I think when I get the oil leak fixed, I'm just going to ask the mechanic to port the stock intake, plenum and runners. It's better than nothing :yesnod:

fast90,

That isa good buy for the manifold. I put that on my '85 with the large runners and ported plenum. It was a very noticable difference. Go for it.

That is a very good price for a nice piece; if a little dirty have it hot sprayed for about $35 to shine like new. If he's offering a set of large tube runners and ported plenum for $500 jump on that, it's a steal.

Buy and install it now; later you can get a set of AS&M runners and port your plenum to release a nice power gain. You can port your stock plenum and likely sell the polished one if it's well done.

With your setup you could add full length headers and likely not gain 20hp and at a higher price.

Sigh...I just can't do it for $$$ reasons. Besides the other areas on the vette that require attention, I need to save what I can for our vacation to Florida next month. I'm sure that something may come up though afterwards. I'm not planning to fool with the intake until closer to spring. By then, I hope the money tree is budding :D
