Default Need some advice on future high-power mods

In maybe 2 years, I'm thinking about throwing on a Carrol supercharger. I'm also thinking about checking out the nitrous scene, as well. I was wondering which setup would be best? I was thinking along the lines of having both; the charger with around maybe 6lbs of boost and a 50-100lbs shot of nitrous. Those numbers are just out of left field but I was thinking of combining them if possible because a supercharger is hard on the engine all the time while nitrous is only hard when you use it but is more dangerous. I figured if I had both, I could have a big improvement most of the time but get that last mile effort from the nitrous only when I need it. That way, the supercharger isn't constantly pushing the engine really hard. I would like to get some info on maybe a dual turbo setup but I haven't heard of any manufacturers for them.

I've still got some other stuff I have to do to the car BEFORE I throw either of those on but I'm considering my options now so I have some sort of plan. :smash:

What are your opinions on the idea? Maybe give some numbers as well so I have an idea of what I should be looking at.

You had better put together a strong lower end if you are going to run a blower and nitrous, the stock one sure won't hold up.

He means your engine components. You'll chew your stock motor like bubble gum, in other words.

The stocker has hyperteutectic (sp?) pistons which is plenty good enough for most people, but they really can't take a lot of punishment. If you are going to be running nitrous or a supercharger you will really want to look into some forged pistons at the very least. If you want it to be very sound you would also get forged connecting rods and a forged crankshaft.

Contrary to popular belief nitrous in and of itself is not dangerous. A properly setup system does no more damage than a supercharger. The problem with ANY power adder, nitrous, turbo, or supercharger is that it greatly increases your cylinder pressures. The motor stock simply isn't built to handle the cylinder pressures of a large shot of nitrous or a lot of boost. If you couple any two power adders then you are greatly increasing your cylinder pressure even more.

At the very least you'll blow a head gaset. At the worst you'll destroy a piston. Personally I would ask yourself how much power you want to make? I make 100 more than stock and it's as reliable as it was when it rolled out of the factory.
