Test drove a 6sp for Glock'94 yesterday.(he's at OU and the car was here) It obviously didn't have the stock shifter in it as I didn't have to "row" through the gears. My question is, can anyone figure out what type of shifter it may have had?
It was EXTREMELY tight! There was only about 1/4" of movement between center and a gear. Maybe 1/2" total throw from 1st to 2nd. It took a little getting use to with the gears THAT close. My one concern though was how tight it felt. You'd think mine was broke and moving through air compared to it. Is that "normal" for a short shifter?
:yesnod: Gotta love it. There is none better IMHO. The reason it feels so tight is that you are giving up mechanical advantage. I like the positive clank into gear myself.
Okay. So now that everyone is positive that it's a B&M ripper. Can anyone compare it to the Hurst? I didn't mind the short throws, I DIDN'T like how tight it was. Not the easist thing to shift. :rolleyes:
Just had a Hurst shifter installed in my 96 and it is great. Not as hard to shift of noisy as the B&M. Positive, clean shifts through all gears and the short throw really saves your arms, especiall through 5th and 6th. You can shift from 1st to 2nd to 3rd to 4th without lifting your wrist of the arm rest. If I was racing, would probably go with a B&m but the Hurst is the one for a everyday driver. Unless I had access to a garage lift, would have a shop do the install. P.S> you do not need to take out your cup of coffee to get into reverse.
