You will lose the ability to carry your hard top.
Powder coat it. I used a crinkle finish
if you want a great looking job you will need to relpace the rear carpet and have someone do some sewing around the bottoms of the cage. I replaced the carpet with the no mas back and saved 10 pounds.
Get a chrome molly, they are a lighter cage

You will need a cage if you want to do SCCA racing. Chrome molly is legal just more expensive
