96 was the year of the R134A. Prior to that, the AC system was built around the R134A. So, anyone put a 96 Condenser in a 91 and what else was required? Any bending of hoses which are already fragile? TIA

Really? And you used what for a source of information?
I imagine your 2nd reference to R134a was intended to be R12 BUT regardless '96 wasn't the "first".

OK. That might be the junkyard guys talking. I know I have R12 and am trying to get an R134A condenser put in. What was their first year and how easy it is to install? Plug and play or PITA?
It has been a while, but I installed a 94-96 Parallel flow condenser on my 1990. I replaced the Tube and Fin Condenser, I don't recall it being too difficult other than getting to it for removal and installation..

Someone said that pre 90 they were NOT angled and post 90 they were angled and he might have to bend his pre-90 hoses? If it is plug and play, I might go for it. OTOH, if it requires refabricating hoses, maybe not.
Replace the condenser only if it has a leak or you have time and money to waste. Evacuate your system. Install a 134 orifice, jumper the low side pressure switch, add two cans of 134 while engine and air conditioner is running and don`t forget the 134 refrigerant oil.

Tried getting a variable orafice once but it didn't fit so I had to get one from NAPA. Got a part number of the one you used?
