1985 would you buy it or pass ? ADDED PICS.in 2nd post
I have a chance to buy a 1985. The car is very clean and has been well maintained, the interior has no tears or rips the carpet is good as well as the seats. Owner says it has been garage kept and always maintained, paint and top are good, no fading.
Mechanically the engine runs decent and the auto. trans. shifts through all gears. The car is very old and I 'm thinking of buying it because of the price, $4,000. The guy is moving and the car can't go.
Any opinions would be appreciated as I don't know a lot about the C-4
corvettes. Do you think this is a good deal or would you pass. Thank you for looking.

Pictures added, let me know what you think about the car. Thanks
Doesn't look bad. Are tires and exhaust system in good shape? Do all the gauges work? Does the A/C blow cold? Based on your description and the limited photos, 4k is a fair price.
Have you taken it for a pretty good drive?Like stated above is everything working. No over heating. If everything checks out $ 4000 is a good price for a first Vette

The owner says AC blows cold and all gauges work, not sure on the rest as I can't drive it until this Sunday. If all ckecks out ok I will buy it.
The owner has moved, however, the car is at his ex wife's home
and this is the reason it can't be seen until Sunday. Will let you know how it goes.

Thanks for the info. Did this year have problems w/ overheating ?
Will drive it this Sunday, if all goes well it's coming home w/ me.
there are no c4 years that had elevated levels of overheating propensity. that said, the space between the condenser and the rad is commonly filled with leaves, bags, bras, panties, mice nests, tshirts........anything that could be scooped up by our bottom feeder cars.
the fan is set to come on i belive about 230f. i know in celsius its 108 that mine comes on.
you could turn it on and let it idle up to 230f and the fan should come on and cool it off.
if it doesnt then its got problems. and fixing a fan thats not coming on isnt so hard but if its happened in the past and the heat gets to 240 then u r in blown head gasket territory.
these cars are compact, lots of power stuffed into a tight space. so heat is an issue BUT only if the vehicles cooling system is compromised.
be sure to check the gauges oil pressure oil temp coolant temp etc.
it LOOKS like its been well cared for.
hood luck and if u buy it be sure to submit copius amounts of photos here!!

Thank you for the good info. I will give the car a good going over
and test drive. I will also submit a vast array of photos if the purchase is made, which I'm sure will be happening.
