Has anyone changed the induction system on their LT4? I've seen other members using the SLP system on their LT1's but can't find it anywhere for the LT4. Any other ideas?
I've never been impressed with the available aftermarket intakes for LT1/4 cars. The SLP unit has an almost identicle amount of filter area and pulls air from the same are as the stock intake...not worth the $$ IMO. The BPP unit has had build quality problems and has a smaller filter area...but pulls air from a better location, still not worth the $$$ to me. The front-plate RAM-air system is good, but I don't want to cut through my bumper, and some states require a front plate.
The best intake I have seen is only available for the L98 cars, it actually flips the filter over, and makes you cut the radiator shroud to pull air from under the car. This used to be available fro LT cars, but for some stupid reason you can't get it anymore.
My advice, get a K&N filter, and if you do any performance work on the engine, cut the filter lid. Other than that, I wouldn't waste the money.
IMO save your money for something else. I've never seen numbers proving air flow is better than just an open lid. Intake changes on the C5s make a notable difference from what I understand, but I'm not so sure for LT4s.
