Steering rack replacement question.
I probably need to replace my steering rack assembly up front.
I've seen rebuilds available on the net. More to the point, I've seen Z51/Z52/Z07 rebuilt units available.
My question is, can I buy a Z51 rebuild and install it on my FE1 car with no other parts needed? Or will I need a few other parts?

Just a difference in ratio, no size differences. We had a rack replaced in our 88 and they put the wrong ratio in the first time :mad Got the Z51 ratio put in after that..

i just replaced my z51 rack in my 85. got a ac delco rebuiltt from the last detail. price $222 + 13.50 s/h and 150 core charge. this was the best price on a delco rebuild uni that i found. installation was not bad except for the flare nut on the larger hose - had to get a 18mm flair nut wrench from my local napa dealer. one of the forum members has a good write-up in the c4 tech section on steering rack replacement. hope this helps -
