Have three bolts on each side taken out. The water pump itself just will not come off. Have tried at least 2 solid hours of muscle fuking it. prying it. shaking it. i can verify both ends are loose from the block and can see half an inch of shaft its connected to but it just will not come off.
Anyone run into this issue and have a solution? PErhaps a water pump removal tool or soemthing?
Yes STOP NOW spray some PB blaster on the coupling and wait heat a bit with a heat gun and wait it will come off at the coupling. If you break that shaft you will be sorry one was just done.

Ouck, Thanks you for the heads up. I have pb blaster and will spray down onto the shaft. So hit it with a heat gun then try to remove with muscle. Will do that tomorrow. Thanks guys!

I had this problem replacing my last 92 WP.
One of the dowel pins was extremely tight.
I relieved the area around the casting (broke) to help relieve the tight pin.
The WPs are usually not required for a core refund.

Spray tonight and no MUSCLE it will slide off when ready wait now or pay dearly later.
Sprayed the shaft with with pb blaster - hit it with a heat gun and the dam thing still will not come off. I resorted back to prying after heat sessions and we have made some progress as you can see in the pic. I took a picture of the view of the shaft from passengar side shown below.
The next pic shows that there are two **** or anchor points the water pump goes in that come out from the block. both sides are almost off those two points but it seems to either be stuck at the anchor points which in turn is making it stuck at the shaft, or the shaft is making it stuck at the anchor points. We have tried two pry bars at the anchor points to no success. I am really hoping somebody here can help further steer me in the right direction as this thing is kicking my ***.
It slides right off your spline it stuck keep spraying. I would spray and tap it back on and work it back and forth you do not want to break it I would not pry very hard.
Wow I haven't heard of this problem before, sure looks like a corroded coupling! maybe you can try moving it back and forth while hitting it with penetrating oil. Keep in mind that there is an oil seal in the timing cover and it may not appreciate much "Heat" Also keep in mind that any oil running down behind the water pump may find it's way into the Opti, I would cover that up with plastic or foil to protect it from ingress.. Otherwise patience is your only friend right now..
Got it off! Took patience just like you guys said it would.
On the other hand. Here are the picture of the water pump - Check out those bearings!
One other queastion, To change the water pump oil seal around the shaft, it looks like the opti will have to come off as the top of the opti covers a little portion over the bottom of the seal.
Vidoes I watched show people replacing the seal with just the WP off. How it that possible if the opti is blocking the way?
Good job I knew you could do it now get the coupling off. Use a sharpe top for a install tool. If you are in that far good time to remove your opti and replace that seal too. Start soaking the pully now remove the three bolts and tap and turn from the bottom do not hit the outside of it. The pully will fall off 20 minutes after your arm does. When your opti is off clean and locktight the cap and rotor and powerwash that mess. If you need plug wires now is the time.
