How many of my fellow Corvette enthusiasts have a numbers matching car? Curious as I have discovered that mine is numbers matching and I'm pretty happy.
Most cars are matching numbers actually, but it a definite plus in many people's minds. In the old days when every SBC looked the same and owners and seller claimed to have "baddest" engines in their cars and it could proven it to a point ..... but then re-stamping came along.
I could care less if it needs going through its getting done, and right that means decking the block.
Whats a #s thing really going to bring extra in 40+ yrs another 500?1000?2000?
much ado about nothing, just my .02
In decades IF it matters its going to be worn out anyway even if it sits dont be another who "saves" it only to find out its not worth hardly any more than if you actually used the car
Ill never understand (not directed at the OP) "I cant drive my car because"....
have an old 60s car that has nothing #s about it except the frame pink and rearend housing. Its easily worth 2x a stock original one is go figure.
If someone loves your car that much I doubt the orig block will matter.
That's always a good thing, cause you never know that one day it could matter more for the C4. The C1'S thru C3's were driven to have enjoy, and so on, and not many were sitting in a garage looking pretty waiting to be brought out for a sunday drive. So sought after numbers matching works for them. Imo, I see more C4's with low mileage then with alot of mileage, so numbers matching is more a given. But again, we will see in another 10-15 years.
I get people asking me If my C3 is numbers matching and I just laugh. It had 165,000 when I bought it 17 years ago, and in the first 10 years I owned it I put another 100,000 before I started to rebuild it.
