Personally I wouldn't take Hedmans if they were free.
My son and I installed a set on his Z-28. They hit the frame on the left side and we had to redrill the mounting holes on the right side. In other words: they fit like crap!
They are also only 1 5/8" Get some hooker 2151's or 2149's if you need to maintian the AIR fittings. They tuck up great and perform very well, they are also very cheap.
Re: ill these headers fit my car? (Nathan Plemons)
I had these on my car.
They fit without drilling or hitting my frame. :jester
But they did drag on every speed bump I hit. They hang really low. I dont know if other makers are tucked up more or not since I have not got around to putting the TPIS headers on yet.
The flanges suck, they bent on my car after 1 year. I think they would be okay if you were into putting new headers on every year...
The hookers snug up as close as is possible for that size on mine. Without going home and looking, I'm pretty sure they're even with the stock main cat chamber.
Summit is notorious for not listing things by the right vehicle, but if you have a part number they can usually get it for you. For example, if you are asking for hooker long tubes for your LT1 they will tell you none exist. This is correct because they are actually L98 headers.
So, if you don't want any of the AIR fittings whatsoever call Summit and tell them you want some Hooker 2151 headers. If you want AIR fittings, which may well be in the wrong places because they are L98 headers than get 2149 headers.
Actual jet hot brand coatings are great if you want to re coat them every year or so. Or so I've heard on this very forum many many times.
I don't know what brand the coating is but I got my headers from Speed Demon Motorsports. It turns out that they have a local company coat their headers. This stuff is fantastic. It doesn't look as shiny as the jet hot coating does, but this stuff does the job. And, they look exactly the same now as they did when I bought them about a year ago. I drive my car in all kinds of weather so they have seen their fair share of rain.
Re: ill these headers fit my car? (Nathan Plemons)
thanks for the help guys. i think i might order the hookers directly from Jet Hot. nathan, jet hot offers a lifetime garranty on new heades. so other than the labor of R&R, it shouldnt be a problem. :seeya :chevy :seeya
