Got in the car last Sat. AM to prep for a trip to NY, and it wouldn't start :mad ! I already knew I an no diagnostician, and the loose distributor distracted me. Today I remembered I had had the same symptoms with my Buick and it was a bad MaF - after an encounter with a puddle the day before. No puddle here, though - it just died. When I uplugged it, the car started :D ! Lesson - If it cranks, starts, dies - unplug the MAF and it may get you home!
Re: Bad MAF Sensor killed my weekend... (StarShipCmdr)
Thanks but you too late!
I have been flatbedded home a 2 times this summer. I had the exact same symptoms. I got out my shop manual and one of the first things it said to do is unplug the Maf.. Presto! My car started and kept running. I found the pigtale was bad. The idle really went nuts when I move the wires. I just soldered a new one on last night! I had to laugh when I saw your post!
