Default Part number for coolant sensor (head)?

'89 base. I've gotten a few sensors from summit and local part stores and they all give me the generic, on off temp switch that triggers a warning light on older Chevy's. I need the one that feeds my digital dash and gives resistance. Not the 2 wire, buy the one in side of the head.

anyone have a part number on that? I tried the oil sensor temp also and it cost $113 from advanced auto!?

Which connector type would you like? I fixed a reference to 8993146 (it was 89993146 a TYPO)

This thread post#12 if the link fails

You are attempting to do the gauge with the DK GRN wire?

I had a hard time finding the right one for my digital temp gauge, too. The threaded port in my iron head is 1/2 NPT, and I found the BWD #WT358 is the right one! It has the spade lug connector also. I'm sure you have aluminum heads, so check the threaded port size for your sensor.

Thanks everyone , I tested the one I got from parts store in boiling water and got it to read 130* so I think it is the right one (considering I walked from in my house outside to a cold garage).

I still don't understand why the oil temp sensor is $113, but that is working fine so no worries.

One question I can't remember answer to is, "why do we have one on each head?". One on passenger side is the green wire (goes to digital dash), the two wire goes from front manifold to ecu, but where does the button connector white wire on driver side head go? Cooling fan trigger or something?

Yes AUX FAN on cars with the option.

What is the brand and part# on what you've got presently?
