Hi everyone, I'm new here and just got my 94 this past week. Previous owner had been having issues with his instrument cluster: LCD dim and gauges working intermittently, so he sent it off to be rebuilt. Once returned to him it was brighter but now the LCD gauges are blinking like a Christmas tree. So after buying it I removed the cluster and cleaned the connector with contact cleaner. I thought for good measure when putting it back in that I would clean the female connector in the dash as well. Here is where I goofed. I accidentally sprayed the female connector with adhesive remover instead of the contact cleaner I realized my mistake and resprayed with contact cleaner, replaced the cluster, and left the battery disconnected overnight. Come out this morning, reconnected the battery, and now neither will the LCD light up, nor will the car turnover. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the adhesive remover or if maybe the steering column being loose won't allow things to work. Any suggestions before I put everything back together and try again?
So my key finally came in and huzzah, it cranked up. Still having cluster issues however. LCD display is showing solid (All numbers are lit up), at least it's not blinking like before. Do you guys think maybe it's a bad ground?
I trouble shoot things starting with the last thing I worked on. You might not want to her it the dash is all back together but would check the connections to the display.
