I called PE about building an exhaust system for the Callaway Im buying, while talking to the guy he was giving me the low down on the prices right now.
You can get a cat-back system for around $730 right now, not cheap but definitely better than catalog price.
I think Im going to buy just the power capsules, tips, and hangers for $600. I'll have the rest of it fabbed.
Just recently bought one from them. Wish my car was out of the shop so i can install it.
They also have polished aluminum tips, and chrome tips for the show car folks.
So they sell direct? That definitely makes things easier. I thought I'd need to go through a distributer or something.
Thanks for the info!
Call and ask for Joe. He is probably the only guy there who answers the phones, but he was VERY helpful when I called a while back. He sent me a true dual setup using headers and a modified PE system. It had all the part#s I would need and some directions as to what goes where. Pretty neat. Now that I should have the headers soon, I can start to think about completing the system with a PE cat-back.
He's talking about everything back of the resonator for $730. The entire Power Effects "CAT-BACK" exhaust is on sale right now for $1220 plus shipping.
It normally goes for $840 for the cat back system for up to 1991. The LT1 system also has the resonator pipes. That sysetm normally runs around $1300. The 1991 system is the same thing except it comes with a removable adapter that turns the Y-pipe into one 3 inch connector that connects to the cat converter and no resonator/pipes. Here's what I did. I bought the cat back fo my 1991. Before I sold it I removed the cat back. Bought my 1996 LT4. I installed the same cat back on my 96 by removing the adapter, cutting my stock pipes ten inches or so from the stock resonator and slipped my PE y-pipe on the stock pipes. It looks perfect, sounds great. Did not need to weld it since it's nice and snug.
