Default Bose speaker question...

Does anyone know if the Bose speaker/amp combo is the same from front to back on my 88' coupe? I know the boxes will be different, but I picked up some good used ones for the back, so I have one of my original back units that still works. I'd like to put it in the front driver's side if possible.

If somebody knows it might save me from taking it apart for nothing.

From the pics in MAD the front & rear units differ as you say, but the speakers themselves look to be the same.

Compare the front & rear amps and connectors; if they look to be the same go for it.

Just out of curiousity, are you talking about replacing your old BOSE w/new BOSE, but exactly the same product that was in the car in 88? If so, why not just change to a newer and upgraded system. Car will still look the same on the surface, but the stereo will sound better. Since there have been a few improvements in audio components in the past 14 yrs. Of course, if the BOSE stuff you are buying is "upgraded" then nevermind.

You know. You ask 100 ppl, you may get 100 different responses. I personnally like Rockford Fozgate, (as you can see by sig). I also liked Kenwood for head units.... unitl I had a problem w/one and it took a month to have repaired and they tried to blame the problem on ME! Even though I didn't even install the system. (had it professionally done). To be honest, you are probably best served to do your own research and decide what works best for your expectations. I like to have Clean, Crisp sound, that HITS (bass) hard. But, also something that sounds good when I listen to Michael Savage on AM. hehe

Get ready to spend money all the speaker mounting has to be custom made if you go other than factory and unless you are good at that sort of thing you will want to rewire the car and find room for amplifiers.. other than that it's a piece of cake.. I'm acctually looking into the alpine dvd/cd player with a 7 inch screen and the kicker subs with precision power amplifiers.. and apline components.. It's on the layaway for a rainy day plan or until the wife doesn't notice plan :D

Those Kicker Subs ROCK! If I weren't just pulling the equipment from my 3000 GT and putting it in my Vette, I would get the Kicker Subs. Amazing how much one 12 can do. Used to take 2 12's to get the same amount of solid bass as one properly ported, Kicker 12" is doing now.
