Compared to their 511 shock line which is made for the front of our cars (I currently have these on the front)
Collapsed Length: 15.63''
Extended Length: 10.63''
I would effectively lose 5/8'' off the extended length but that doesn't bother me too much
no responses yet so Ill chime in,
here is a comparison of a couple of front gas shocks,
10" compressed and 15" extended is around the ballpark for the c4 front end, but thats at standard ride height, if you put adjustable coil overs on its always going to be hard to resist the temptation to go lower in the front, and if you do I would look at some of the other shocks that offer a 9.5" or even lower compressed height with the stud/tie-bar.
Flaming river are made by Viking so maybe check out their range of shocks, they actually list a range of lowered c4 shocks in their catalogue, and all their shocks come double adjustable.
In general, if I were going to go through the trouble of a coilover conversion, I would want a proper monotube with at least double adjustability. The QA1 offers neither. Bilsteins can probably be built as a coilover, maybe even their inverted. The Ridetech "Handling Quality" dampers are monotube single-adjustables based on Fox internals, and they are already of the proper dimension for a C4. It would be worth calling them to see if they can be customized as a coilover.

QA1 do have the double adjustable coil overs available for our C4's, I do recommend the 5/8 shaft size and perhaps a 9 1/2 collapsed length.
I had one of my Koni coilovers 1/2 inch shafts snap at the base of the tread, Not sure if it is due to the collapsed length sizing but my 5/8 shaft coilovers have not given me any problems.

I saw that after I wrote my last reply. However, those are $260. For the total cost and effort of going to a coilover setup, I would still strongly consider a more performance-oriented monotube shock. Granted, I don't know what is available for C4s, but there must be something.
