Default Condenser Fan?

Just took my radiator and condenser out as I have to replace Harmonic balancer, ( know I could do it without removing these, but thought Id make it easy on myself and clean the debris that is caught between the units, only took 30 minutes to remove both.) The fan that sits in front of the condenser comes on as soon as I turn the ignition key to the on position, and runs until I shut the car down. Air at this point doesnt work, no freon, will check it out this spring. I assume the fan must be wired direct, is there some sensor that should be in the circuit. Also the radiator
on the upper passenger side has a spade connector a small sensor screwed into the radiator, this has nothing connected to it. Can any one point me in a right direction. 1985 L98, assuming all stock engine, unknown history

I would unplug it and trace it back. Pull your knock and whatever you have on the other side to get a proper flush.

The spade terminal you see is a "low level coolant" that actual wasn't used until '86 I believe, so I'd say the car has had a radiator replaced at some point. The sensor is just the "thumb in the dike" to prevent coolant loss.

The fan situation is a PO creation of sorts - there's quite likely a demand/toggle switch maybe somewhere or it's just been creatively wired to a RUN device in the wiring. Dependent upon options the fan should have a switching device in a cylinder head(temperature operated) or an "add-on" by the PO. Do you know if your SPID label shows V08 option? Is there an oil cooler mounted at the oil filter adapter or just a filter there?

Ill trace the wires back. I think that there are hoses leading to the oil filter adapter, im going under car tomorrow to check, and see where they run as Im replacing the Harmonic balancer tomorrow. Ill check the label, what does VO8 option mean?
